Dan Stone
Dan Stone
We are a people business, so we feel it important you know a little about us before we get to know you. Time to get familiar!
Dan founded D Stone Services Ltd in 2008 having already accrued a lifetimes worth of experience in and around the material supply business thanks to his Father, Malcolm.
When Malcolm sold the family business, Dan decided to take the proverbial Bull by the Horns and made the bold decision to set up his own Grab Hire business, ticking all the necessary and relevant qualification, certification and regulation boxes as he went. Since then, he's never looked back and the business has continued to grow and diversify to meet ever changing customer requirements.
A family man with two wonderful children, a lover of rubber wetsuits (or was that Jet Skis?) and Southampton Football Club (but don't hold that against him), Dan can normally be found 8 feet in the air at the controls of the long arm grab - for which, we are told, he has a Black Belt. Banzai, Daniel-san!
Gemma Stone
Gemma Stone
Gemma, Dan's better half, provides the calming influence behind the scenes as Transport Manager. With sure footedness and close attention to the books and all else matters regulatory, Gemma keeps everything soldiering onwards as it should.
Gemma is an expert in understanding and coordinating the requirements of lorry maintanence, managing our operators license and regulatory body memberships, performing Tacho analysis, enforcing the working time directive and all other legal stuff. All that, and she still manages to be a great Mum of two! Respect.
Worthy of mention, Gemma is an Ace shot. Not that any potential late payers should be too concerned, this relates to Netball*. She shoots, she scores!
* payment terms are enforced by other more humane means.
Ken Millsom
Ken Millsom
Having worked within the material supply business for more years than he cares to mention, Ken has a wealth of experience (and stories) that's hard to beat. A man of many talents, if it has wheels and moves, the odds are Ken has driven it and got the respective license to boot.
Forever smiling, Ken can normally be found behind the wheel of the 8 wheeler, or on the odd occasion, in 'Toot Toot' (the 7.5 tonne tipper) performing the Bacon Roll run.
In fact, the only occasion you will ever see Ken without a smile is when (if) he's inverted through 180 degrees. Even then, this is easily remedied by copying said move. You will quickly realise he was smiling all along!
In all seriousness, Ken is an all round good fellow and top drawer machine operative working alongside Dan to ensure only the very best customer service is delivered day in, day out.
Daisy
Daisy
Our loving and ever so soppy Dog, Daisy.
Sadly, Daisy lost her front left leg due to a multiple fracture, but in a glorious display of strong will and determination that only Mother Nature can muster, she bounced right back from surgery and, ironically, has gained a rocket like turn of pace not seen previously.
A pure example of tenacity, Daisy keeps the local Rabbit population under good order through fear of licking whilst also providing a friendly welcome for any visitors to the Yard. A very useful garbage disposal unit, Daisy can often be found with some form of food stuff in her mouth. She has a particular penchant for Bacon rolls, akin to Dan and Ken. How odd.
Daisy plays a vital supporting role for the team here at D Stone who responds well to friendly petting - as does Dan and Ken, apparently.
